What is EMDR?
EMDR therapy is a treatment that allows you to process traumatic experiences until they are no longer psychologically disruptive. Successful EMDR decreases traumatic symptoms and harmful coping skills while increasing insight into the traumatic event(s) and core beliefs about self and the world.
EMDR is recognized as an effective form of trauma treatment by the American Psychiatric Association, the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (for both children and adults), Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and the World Health Organization.
